Jasmine Dillon: I hope this is something I do in my everyday work – ensuring women have opportunity and their voices are heard and celebrating and promoting their achievements. Providing mentorship where possible. I also think it’s important to embrace equity more broadly, beyond gender equity and ensuring diversity of views to reflect the communities we serve.

Fiona Hipkiss: So much of jobs is about your internal network and how confidently you carry yourself. The classic assumption is that confident people have more potential for leadership and I personally don’t think that is good equity. I’m committed to opening conversations about what people want and what they think they deserve. It means you can proactively help move someone towards opportunities. Senior managers who are looking for the next top talent and internal leadership should be having these conversations witheveryone, not just those who are most confident to put themselves forward.

Lucia Martinez-Noriega: In Spain we are 100% equity focused, in terms of gender equity right now we are 52% women and 48% men. Our Country Head is a woman. Embracing equity is part of our DNA.

Elena Vakali: I feel the best way to embrace equity is by committing to ‘walk the walk’ every day - treating everyone equally and checking in with yourself regularly on your personal biases. This should extend more broadly, not just in the context of career progression or even the workplace. For example, by encouraging our male colleagues to take shared parental leave, we contribute to building equity not just at work but at home as well. Women should feel confident they can have a voice and ‘lean in’ because the entirety of their circumstances best enables them to do so.

Mary Edmunds: As a leader at Hines, equity is something that I have committed to ensuring is part of all the work we do. This includes: access to apply for roles, opportunities to grow and who we partner with. Equity is not only equal opportunity but about ensuring that those who may not have the access are offered the opportunity to have a path to achieve. We are committed to advancing the role of women at Hines through with our Employee Resource Group, our OneHines Women’s Network.
